Bandwidth Calculator
Transfer time from file size and bandwidth.
Bandwidth Calculator helps you transfer time from file size and bandwidth. Enter file size and internet speed, review the breakdown, and use the guidance below to understand what the number means — and what it does not. What the Bandwidth calculator does Bandwidth Calculator is built for everyday questions — shopping, home, travel, hobbies, and tech. Transfer time from file size and bandwidth. You enter file size and internet speed, then Simple Calculators computes the result instantly. Defaults are chosen to be easy to read — change any field to match your situation. How the math works Enter the File size in megabytes (MB) and your Internet speed in megabits per second (Mbps). File sizes count bytes but internet speeds count bits, and 1 byte = 8 bits, so time in seconds = file size × 8 ÷ speed. The result assumes you get your full speed the whole time, so real transfers are usually somewhat slower. The formula: Time (seconds) = file size (MB) × 8 ÷ speed (Mbps). Multiply by 8 because 1 byte = 8 bits.
