Each binary place is worth twice the place to its right (1, 2, 4, 8, 16…), so the calculator adds up the place values wherever there is a 1. Only whole numbers from 0 up to 9,007,199,254,740,991 (53 binary digits) are accepted. The formula: Decimal = sum of (digit × 2^position), counting positions from 0 on the right.
