For Decimal → scientific, enter a Decimal number and the calculator moves the decimal point until one non-zero digit is in front of it; the number of places moved becomes the exponent. For Scientific → decimal, enter the Coefficient and a whole-number Exponent (power of 10), and it works out coefficient × 10^exponent.
